Equest Pramox a horse wormer containing moxidectin and praziquantel, is generally safe for use, but it can have some side effects. These are typically mild and transient, occurring more frequently in foals or when dosages exceed recommendations.

Common side effects include:

  • Mouth pain or discomfort
  • Flaccid lower lip
  • Ataxia (unsteady gait)
  • Swelling of the muzzle
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Anorexia (temporary loss of appetite)

These reactions tend to appear within 8 to 24 hours following treatment and usually resolve spontaneously within 24 to 72 hours​

In very rare cases, lethargy and digestive issues like colic or loose stools may occur, particularly in horses with heavy worm burdens
